The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the alleged corruption charges against the Lokayukta office is gaining steam with the arrest of two more persons on Wednesday. The arrested include a journalist and a Right to Information (RTI) activist.
The accused Srinivasa Gowda, a journalist and owner of Biryani Adda, a chain of food-joint in Bengaluru along with his associate Shankare Gowda, an RTI activist were arrested based on the information provided by Ashok Kumar who was arrested by the SIT on Tuesday.
SIT officials, after analyzing the call records of Ashok Kumar, found that the two men are part of the racket and they were assigned to gather information about Government officials working in various departments and pass it on to Ashok Kumar, who in turn made ransom calls for the other people involved in the racket.
The two men have been taken into custody till July 30 for a detailed probe.
