The Social Welfare Department has annulled the caste certificates furnished by seven officials for getting their jobs as those certificates have been found to be “false”.

These officials will not only lose their jobs, but will also have to repay the salaries received by them.

According to sources, five of these persons had secured government jobs by falsely claiming that they belonged to the Scheduled Tribe community of Beda Jangama. Similarly, two of them had falsely claimed that they were from the Scheduled Caste community of Adi Karnataka.

The department has also recommended criminal action against them for making false claims.

The officials who are set to face action and lose jobs include an Assistant Executive Engineer from the Public Works Department in Koppal and an Assistant Engineer from the Koppal Zilla Panchayat.
