A City Civil and Sessions Court on Wednesday granted bail to Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharati Swami and four others in the second rape charge that the seer is facing. The court asked the seer to furnish a Rs. 2-lakh bond and two sureties, and also directed him not to leave the city without the court’s permission.

He second case pertains to a mutt follower, a 25-year-old artist, who has accused him of sexually assaulting her.

Meanwhile, in the first rape charge, the seer was asked by the CID to appear at Victoria Hospital for a potency test on Wednesday morning. But, the CID received a letter from the seer at about 11 a.m. saying he needed more time to consult his legal team. CID sources said the tests were important since the victim, in her statement, had identified moles that the seer had. “One of the conditions in the bail granted by the Sessions court in the rape case was that he should cooperate with the investigating agency. This is in defiance of that order We will seek legal advice to approach the court to cancel his bail ,” said a CID officer.
