A day after three people died while cleaning a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in an apartment complex at HSR Layout, the State Safai Karmachari Commission has asked the police to tighten the case against the residents’ association and the electrical contractor Narayanaswamy by booking them for culpable homicide. Bandepalya police, who are investigating, have registered a case under Section 304 (A) of the IPC (causing death by negligence).

According to M.R. Venkatesh, Chairperson of the Commission, they have urged the police to change the section under which the case has been booked.

The three workers died of asphyxiation while cleaning the STP after being choked by toxic fumes.
