To facilitate the integration of R.V. Road Station on the Green Line with the upcoming metro station of R.V. Road – Bommasandra Yellow line of phase II, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) may shut down the station for passengers for several months.

As per the plan, the new metro line to Electronics City starts from the R.V. Road station of the Green Line. The BMRCL is using Lakshman Rao Park land located parallel to the Green Line viaduct. At the Marenahalli Road Circle, the Phase II viaduct will traverse over the existing viaduct. The construction work began last year.

“The BMRCL is deliberating on the issue of integrating the two metro stations. We are exploring both options: whether to close the operational R.V. Road Metro station for a certain period, or carry out construction of integration work by not disturbing operations at the station. Considering the interest of both passengers and Phase II work, a decision will be taken in the coming days,” said source.

The BMRCL is hoping to complete work by December 2020.

If the BMRCL decides to close to station, passengers may have to use Jayanagar metro station or Banashankari Metro station. Jayanagar station is located 1 km away from the R.V. Road station.

Building of an integrated station is crucial, as it will help passengers reach Silk Board and Electronics City area once Phase II becomes operational.

For the first time, the BMRCL is also building a road-cum-rail flyover from Ragigudda to Central Silk Board.
