A 55-year-old building contractor committed suicide by hanging from a window grill at his apartment in Vidyaranyapura on Sunday.
The deceased Ammanullah owned two apartments in Shri Ram Sugruha apartment. While he and his family lived in one apartment, the other one was vacant.
On Friday, the family members found Ammanullah missing and lodged a missing complaint with the Vidyaranyapura police. The police tried to trace him, but he was not found. On Saturday evening, the police learnt that they had another house, which was empty, in the same apartment complex. When they went and checked, they found Ammanullah hanging from a window grill, said the police.
It is suspected that Ammanullah was upset due to a property dispute in the family. A few years ago, he had started constructing an apartment complex in Rajajinagar. But the family members and relatives had filed a case against him claiming their share in the land and the case is in the court. Upset over this and having suffered loss due to it, he may have committed suicide, said the police. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.” Vidyaranyapura police registered a case.
