PU student drowns in lake

A 19-year-old youth drowned in Bagalur lake on Tuesday. The victim identified as Avinash Gowda was a II PU student and resident of Horamavu Agara who had gone fishing in the lake with two of his friends.

The police said Avinash drowned after slipping into the lake after losing his footing around 4.30 p.m. His friends tried to help him in vain. They raised an alarm and urged the locals to save him. The locals called in the police and the Fire and Emergency Services.

Body recovered

The rescue operations went on till 11 p.m. Avinash’s body was recovered at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday and later shifted to B.R. Ambedkar Hospital for post-mortem, said the police.
