On March 29 evening, Sumera Banu, 28, and her daughter Ahera Khan, 5, died when a car explosion scene went horribly wrong. One of the cannons — a 3.5-foot-long metal cylinder — when fired flew across the road with high velocity and hit bystanders.

The incident took place at the Bengaluru Aerospace Park at Bagalur. The film crew fled from the spot. The police had formed three teams to arrest the accused.

On April 1, Subhash, 55, the stunt director, was arrested. On Friday, Srinivas alias Kanakapura Srinivas, who is the prime accused in the case, was arrested from J.C. Road. He has been remanded in judicial custody. He has reportedly told the Bagalur police that he was not at the spot during the incident.

The police are yet to arrest film director V. Samudra and stunt manager Vijayan.
