A day after both the Houses of the State legislature admitted the motions seeking removal of Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao, presiding officers of the Houses held consultations on Tuesday on the formalities to be completed for forwarding such motions to the Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka for an inquiry.

The meeting was attended by Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa, Legislative Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy and secretaries of both the Houses, among others.

According to sources, such a meeting was held as the norms make it mandatory to formally collect evidences that can satisfy the authorities about the need for the motion to remove the Lokayukta.

Accordingly, officials are learnt to have been instructed to complete the formalities within a few days.

Mr. Thimmappa told The Hindu after the meeting that steps would be taken to send the motion with a covering letter to the Chief Justice within this week itself.

The present exercise confines to only the motion regarding the removal of the Lokayukta as the proposal for removal of the Upalokayukta is yet to come up in the form of motion before either of the Houses.
