Sleuths from CCB raided a house in Mahalakshmi Layout on Tuesday and rescued a 15-year-old minor girl from the flesh trade.

The raid was conducted acting on a tip-off that a 15-year-old minor girl was pushed into prostitution in the house. Police have arrested Girish (42) and Jeslin Mary (23), who was renting out a room for the flesh trade at Rs. 500 an hour.

Police investigations revealed that the girl’s cousin Anita (27) introduced her to Girish, who had been arrested several times earlier for human trafficking, through a woman named Manjula.

Girish and Anita enticed the girl, a class VIII dropout, into prostitution. The girl was living in Chikkabanavara with her mother and was cash strapped, which prompted her to get into the flesh trade.

The girl was involved in the flesh trade for at least two months now. Police are on the lookout for Anita and Manjula. Police are also probing whether the gang was running an organised ring with minor girls in prostitution or whether this was a one-off case.

The girl has been shifted to the care of the government girls home and was being given all help along with counselling.
