The Mico Layout police have arrested a 40-year-old man for disposing confidential Aadhaar details in a garbage bin after shutting down his enrolment agency.

Based on a complaint by UIDAI officials, police tracked down C.N. Venkatesh, a resident of Mico Layout. He was arrested for breach of privacy and also booked under various sections of the IPC.

According to the police, Venkatesh had taken up the contract for enrolment, which expired in May this year. Instead of handing over the documents and the confidential data to the authorities concerned, he reportedly disposed them in the garbage dump near Anjaneyaswamy temple in B.T.M. II stage.

Passers-by saw the documents and alerted the UIDAI.

Ashok Lenin, deputy director, Unique Identification Authority of India filed a complaint citing violation of Aadhaar rules. He sought immediate arrest of the accused.
