Official booked for cheating

Lokayukta police on Tuesday searched the residence of District Welfare Officer Narasimaiah and froze all his bank accounts in the city. He has been named in a case of cheating an illiterate villager of compensation for land acquired for Kempegowda International Airport.

The complainant is from Singanahalli. He had sought Narasimaiah’s help to avail the compensation for his land, which was acquired by KIADB in 2007. Recently, he realised that Narasimaiah had withdrawn Rs. 70 lakh of the Rs. 1.7 crore compensation from his account. He lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police.
