The government has said that it would take a final call on the proposal to build a seven-storey annex to the Karnataka High Court within Cubbon Park only after looking into the relevant provisions of the law. The proposal is being opposed by citizens.

The Karnataka High Court gave its nod to the project recently.

The Chief Minister’s Office, in a release, said that the final plan of the building is yet to be finalised and government departments had not submitted documents to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) seeking plan sanction.

Several environment activists, heritage enthusiasts and experts had opposed the proposal in which the old office of the Election Commissioner will make way for the building. Suggestions have been pouring in from the public demanding retention of the original building.
