M.Tech graduate held for dealing in drugs

Narcotics Control Bureau officials on Tuesday caught a 27-year-old assistant lecturer of a city-based college while receiving a courier containing 16 grams of methamphetamine (MDMA), a psychotrophic substance popularly known as ecstasy, concealed in note books.

The estimated value of the seized drugs is ₹60,000.

Based on a tip-off , a team of officials caught the lecturer when he came to receive a package couriered to him from Mumbai in Maharashtra.

A senior official said that the accused is an M.Tech graduate in civil engineering and is part of a drug peddling network linked to Mumbai.

The NCB officials are now on the lookout for his contact person in Mumbai. Police suspect that the accused is an addict and a peddler, has been in this business for quite some time.
