Of the total 1.75 lakh names from the city that have been deleted from the voters list, the most number – 14,880 – are from Rajarajeshwarinagar.

This assumes importance as it was in Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly Constituency that more than 9,500 Electoral Photo ID Cards were found in an apartment ahead of the Assembly polls in May 2018, where some pamphlets bearing photos of the Congress candidate Munirathna were also found.

After this, the election in this constituency was deferred by the Election Commission. The other constituencies where the number of deletions have exceeded 10,000 are Yeshwanthapura (12,798), Mahadevapura (12,537), Dasarahalli (10,596), and Bangalore South (10,531).

According to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad, who is also the District Election Officer, the number of additions is just 8,452. He said that as per the final voters’ list, the total number of voters in the city is 88.81 lakh, as opposed to the 89.57 lakh in the draft roll that was published on October 10, 2018.

After a rationalising exercise, the number of polling stations had increased from 8,287 to 8,514 in the city. Booth-level officers have also been appointed for all the polling stations.
