“Romeo and Juliet”, “Yaar ki Shaadi”, “Silver Ghost”, “Break Dance” and “World War” are not the titles of movies but unique names given to “rockets” being sold this year for Deepavali.
These are “rockets” that have some unique qualities about them — going higher than the usual ones. For instance, “Romeo and Juliet” follow each other till they burst simultaneously. These fancy “rockets” cost a little higher than the regular ones.
On Sunday, brightly coloured boxes of different shapes and sizes consisting of various crackers adorned the wholesale stores at Attibele and Hosur.
Ramesh R. of SLV Traders said: “We have more variety now than the last time. Fancy ‘rockets’ and multi-coloured flowerpots are the main attraction.” There are always something new in the market each year, he said.
Gold, silver, tri-coloured and multi-coloured flowerpots, different coloured sparkles, multitude of “rockets”, strings of bullets, big and small chakras, magic whip and different varieties of “bombs” could be seen at these markets. “There are many varieties here, and we are trying to get as many as possible for family and friends,” Priyanka, a customer at Hosur, said.
Crackers were also available in a variety of gift packs, all of which were priced over Rs. 3,000.
