The Vidhana Soudha police are on the lookout for a middleman who allegedly conned another person into giving him ₹5,000 to get financial help from the Chief Minister’s relief fund for his ailing daughter.

Mubarak, a vendor from Chitradurga, met the accused Mohammed Husen at his home town four months ago.

When Husen learnt that Mubarak could not afford the medical bills of his daughter who suffered from a chronic disease, he decided to take advantage of the situation, said the police. According to the police, Husen approached the Chief Minister’s office and submitted the documents, but the claim was rejected. Husen later took back the documents but did not contact Mubarak. nable to trace Husen even after four months, Mubarak approached the Chief Minister’s office seeking information on the status of his application. That was when he realised that Husen had not only duped him but also taken away the medical documents, which he needed to seek monetary help from the government or an NGO.
