Medical hackathon held

A walker that detects obstacles, a cheaper way to pressure ulcers, and eye-drop dispensing aid were the winners at the first-of-its-kind Medical Device Hackathon, ‘ReImagineHealth 2019’, conducted here on Monday.

The event, supported by MedTech, Geriatric Healthcare Technology Business Incubator at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and State-run K-Tech, saw 14 teams comprising 64 participants.

Team Novae, who presented their product - the ‘Sonic Walker’; Team Decubators, who presented a better and cheaper way to prevent pressure ulcers in non-ambulatory patients, and Team iDams, who presented Eye(i) Drops Dispensing Aid and Monitoring Systems, emerged the winners, said a release.
