Continuing its demand for deletion of names of three MLCs from the list of voters for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) mayoral polls, the BJP on Monday got two of its former mayors and a former deputy mayor to petition the State Election Commission (SEC) in this regard.
In their petition before the SEC, former mayors S.K. Nataraj and B.S. Sathyanarayana and former deputy mayor S. Harish demanded deletion of the names of Congress V.S. Ugrappa, and Raghu Achar, MLCs, and M. Srinivas, JD(S) MLC, from the voters’ list of Bengaluru as well as that of mayoral polls.
They alleged that these three MLCs are not the residents of Bengaluru.
Allowing them to vote in the mayoral polls will not only amount to violation of the Representation of People’s Act, but also go against the mandate of the people of Bengaluru, they said.
