Two armed men wearing helmets looted a finance firm in Rajarajeshwarinagar after threatening the manager at gunpoint. They escaped with nine kg gold jewellery and cash worth Rs. 6 lakh in broad daylight on Friday.

The incident occurred at IIFL Gold Loan, a finance firm at Jawaharlal Nehru Road, BEML Layout, Rajarajeshwarinagar, at around 12.30 p.m.

The two men entered the firm posing as customers. The even questioned the security guard on whether “the manager madam is in the office”.

When the security guard replied in the affirmative and asked them to sign the visitors’ register, one of them overpowered him and the other barged into the office. He pulled out a pistol, aimed it at the manager and demanded the locker keys.

The manager, Bhamini, tried to conceal the keys, but the gunman snatched her purse and took them out. He then forced her to open the locker and began to fill the gold valuables and cash into his bag, and fled.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) D.C. Rajappa said, “Ms. Bhamini tried to hide the keys, but when the miscreant checked her bag she had no option but to open the locker.”

There were three women and two men in the office, including a customer, when the incident took place, Mr. Rajappa said.

The Rajarajeshwarinagar police have collected CCTV camera footage from the office to identify the culprits.
