The man, who was on the run after setting his wife on fire in a classroom on Wednesday, was found hanging at a lodge in Dharmasthala on Friday.

A special team of police from Magadi, which was tracking the accused Renukaradhya, found that he was on the run in a car that he had borrowed from his friend. They tracked down the car in Mangaluru. However, before they could apprehend him, the accused allegedly committed suicide at a lodge where he had checked in.

The victim Sunanda, a teacher at the Government Primary School in Magadi, who sustained 50% burn injuries, is said to be recovering.

The Magadi police, who had registered a case, said the couple had differences over finances and suspect that this could be the reason behind the attack. They are in touch with their counterparts at Dharmasthala for the post mortem report to ascertain the cause of Renukaradhya’s death.
