The busy Majestic area continues to remain an unsafe place for women and children despite strict vigil by the West division police, which recently launched the Obavva Squad to keep a check on trouble-makers.

On Tuesday, according to the police, passers-by pursued and caught a 28-year-old man who was allegedly harassing women walking on K.G. Road.

The accused, Veeramani, along with four associates, was standing near Alankar Plaza and allegedly passing lewd comments to women and girls.

One of the victims, who runs an NGO, raised an alarm when he allegedly misbehaved with her. The accused tried to escape, but was pursued and caught by passers-by who handed him over to the Upparpet police.

Veeramani was arrested on the charge of outraging the modesty of women. Efforts are on to nab his associates.
