January 08, 2015 04:57 pm | Updated 04:57 pm IST - Bengaluru:

The Central Division police arrested a 30-year-old, Mumbai-based man for making a bomb-hoax call to the city police on New Year to take revenge against his wife for deserting him.

The accused, Devendra Panchal Natwar was picked by the city police from his home-town, based on the details provided by his wife.

According to the police, Panchal was upset with his wife for deserting him and came to Bengaluru with her boyfriend and started working as a bar-tender in the city.

Panchal managed to trace her to Bengaluru but could not get her back. Enraged, Panchal decided to teach her a lesson. He purchased a mobile phone with Bengaluru sim-card using fake documents and made calls to the city police control room informing that bombs have been planted in and around MG Road. He also gave the name and vague details of his wife saying that she was involved.

The police though confirmed that it was a hoax call, searched the city on New Year’s eve for the woman and managed to trace her.

After detailed questioning, police zeroed in on Panchal and a team was dispatched to nab him. After a long chase, he was arrested on Wednesday.
