Long traffic jams in Bengaluru

September 02, 2017 03:13 pm | Updated 03:13 pm IST - Bengaluru

Heavy rains on Friday night coupled with rains on Saturday afternoon led to long traffic jams at several areas across the city on Friday night as well as Saturday. With water-logged roads, there was not much the traffic police could do besides posting warnings on social media as traffic jams across the city led to a massive gridlock everywhere.

On Saturday morning, waterlogging in Varthur, Koramangala, HSR Layout, Chalukya junction, Anepalya, Adugodi and northern areas of the city led to slow moving traffic in many areas. This coupled with religious processions and prayers slowed down traffic in areas including R.T. Nagar and J.C. Nagar.

By afternoon, rains had started lashing the city again and traffic slowed to a standstill in Malleswaram, Hebbal, Outer Ring Road and several other areas. The Twitter account of the city police @BlrCityTraffic was full of tweets warning motorists to stay away from busy roads on account of the rain and waterlogging.
