To provide a platform and initiate conversations among children, parents, teachers and authors, Neev Academy has decided to host a children’s literature festival.

Kavita Gupta Sabharwal, managing trustee of the academy and co-founder of the festival, said the second edition of Neev Literature would have two components. It will be conducted over three days — with one day each for teachers, students and the public — and this year, for the first time, there will be annual Neev Children’s Book Award in three categories — picture books, young readers, and young adults. The three award winners will receive a cash prize of ₹1 lakh each, along with a citation.

According to the organisers, the purpose of these awards is to recognise outstanding writing for children that leads to a fuller understanding of India, Indian lives, and Indian stories.

The event will consist of workshops and training sessions for teachers and librarians on September 27, while the following day will have workshops on reading, writing and regional stories for children between the ages of five and 18. On September 29, there will be panel discussions and talks by authors. There will also be a diverse and comprehensive exhibition of books for children in English and regional languages.
