A jewellery box containing valuables worth several lakhs was allegedly stolen from the passenger of a domestic flight, in the Kempegowda International Airport on Saturday.

The box belonged to Vishal Kale, a resident of Basavana Nagar. He was travelling on a SpiceJet flight to Hubballi, with his family.

In his complaint, Kale said that he got into the bus taking passengers towards their flight, with his wife and child, after completing the boarding formalities. He was carrying a handbag which contained the valuables.

After de-boarding the bus and getting into the plane, he realised that the handbag was missing. He alerted the flight staff who immediately informed the authorities concerned.

Kale got back the bag within 15 minutes. However, when he checked the contents, the jewellery box was missing. He reported the matter to the staff before filing a complaint with the BIAL police.

The box contained two necklaces, two pairs of earrings, two bangles, one gold chain, one gold waist belt and two nose studs.

Based on the complaint, the police have summoned the staff of the bus for questioning.
