Karnataka High Court on Monday rejected the State government’s application seeking permission to carry out delimitation of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) wards and fix reservation after delimitation of wards before conduct of elections to the BBMP’s council.
Justice B.V. Nagarathna refused to allow Karnataka’s plea for the reason that the State had no right to file such application in view of the Apex Court upholding the March 30 order of the High Court.
The Court has imposed cost on the State government while holding that application was not maintainable.
The Supreme Court, on May 5, had upheld the single judge High Court order on BBMP polls, and set a 90-day deadline for the polls. The deadline comes to an end on August 31.
