A realtor and his family members were robbed at gun-point on Sunday by a gang of five armed men. They made away with cash and gold valuables worth Rs. 11 lakh from his house in Mahalakshmi Layout.
The gang, armed with pistol and knives, gained entry into Prakash’s house on 3rd Main Road, on the pretext of enquiring about Satish, the police said. Before Prakash could reply that he had no idea of any person called Satish, the gang barged into the house and threatened the family members. While two kept guard of the family members, three others ransacked the house and robbed Rs. 20,000 cash and 350 grams of gold valuables total worth Rs. 11 lakh.
Before escaping from the scene, the gang threatening the family to not inform police. The family members were locked from outside. Prakash managed to alert the neighbours who rushed to help and informed police. Senior police officers rushed to the house and supervised the investigations.
Prakash told police officials that two of the gang members had visited earlier on the pretext of looking for Satish. Judging by the information, police suspect that the gang kept watch over Prakash before striking his house.
The Mahalakshmi Layout police have taken up the case and are investigating.
