Four held on the charge of assaulting constables

The four allegedly created a ruckus outside a bar

The Malleswaram police have arrested four persons, including the son of a BJP leader, for allegedly assaulting a police constable on duty during a drunken brawl outside a bar early on Sunday. The accused have been identified as Carl Marx, 21, son of Chi Na Ramu, national general secretary of BJP SC Morcha, and Chethan, 20, Shreyas, 22, and Keshav, 23.

According to the police, the accused went to a bar and restaurant and allegedly had an argument with the cashier over a trivial row.

The staff members sent the four out of the bar before alerting the police following which they created ruckus outside the bar.

Beat constable Umesh and Home Guard Rudresh rushed to the spot. The four allegedly snatched a lathi from the constable and assaulted them.

Umesh informed the police station and additional force was rushed to the spot.

“We have registered a case against four persons for allegedly assaulting policemen on duty and arrested them. They have been remanded to judicial custody,” a police officer said.
