Four persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in robberies across the city. The accused are alleged to have targeted a total of five houses, all of which belong to their acquaintances and relatives.

Prasad Kumar (24), Satish (32), Manjegowda (26) and Prasanna (28) – who had migrated to the city from neighbouring districts – were arrested by the police. With the arrests, the police claimed to have solved five robberies across the city. The modus operandi, said the police, was that these four would wait till their relatives or friends go out on vacations or leave the house for the night. They would then break open the lock, steal gold and silver ornaments – which they had scoped out in previous visits to the house – and sell them under their friends’ names in pawn shops.

Gold and silver ornaments worth nearly Rs. 32 lakh have been recovered, said the police.
