The police have arrested four persons in connection with an alleged assault on a woman near Kempegowda International Airport Road on Sunday night.

According to police sources, the victim, a student, is a resident of Thindlu. Around 9 p.m., she was travelling on a bike with a boy on the service road. It is alleged that a man, later identified as Manjunath, came on a scooter from the opposite direction.

As the two vehicles were about to collide, an argument broke out. When Manjunath tried to snatch the bike key from the girl, the boy intervened and a physical brawl ensued.

A few friends of Manjunath also joined the fight and allegedly manhandled the girl. The girl and her boyfriend managed to escape from the spot and lodged a police complaint.

“The girl was able to identify Manjunath and three of his accomplices. We have arrested them and are on the look out for others,” said a senior police officer. The police have registered cases under various sections of the IPC including section 354 of IPC (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty).

Further investigation is on.
