Laying of underground cables, which is a major part of the upgrading work being carried out by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd., has resulted in several roads being dug up.

For citizens who live along these roads, the next few months will mean painful commutes.

The size of the cables in several areas is such that around half or more than half of the road has to be dug up. “They dug up one side of the road and it is already so narrow. However, if it means better power supply, we will gladly accept it,” said Manjunath S., a resident of Kambipura. Officials said the idea was to cause minimum inconvenience. “We want to do a better job than other agencies. The idea is to have minimum interruption in power supply,” an official said.
