The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will launch yet another drive to remove unauthorised hoardings, flexes, posters, banners and buntings on Monday.

According to a release here on Saturday, Commissioner Rajneesh Goel chaired a meeting with the zonal additional and joint commissioners. He directed the officials to take action against those who have put up the hoardings by filing criminal cases against them.

The release added that these unauthorised hoardings, flexes, posters, banners and buntings affect the city’s aesthetics. The commissioner has directed the officials to videograph the drive with a view to submitting it to court.

Mr. Goel has appealed to the public and politicians who have put up these hoardings, flexes, posters, banners and buntings to take them down, the release said.

This new directive comes in the light of the High Court of Karnataka lambasting the BBMP recently over its failure to rid the city of these illegal and unauthorised hoardings, flexes, posters, banners, cut-outs and buntings. The court has now directed the commissioner to file an affidavit within a month on the steps taken.
