Decision on elevated corridors after EIA: Revanna

In an attempt to allay fears among citizens about the proposed elevated corridors, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister H.D. Revanna assured that a final decision would be taken only after getting the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report and inviting public objections.

Rejecting the view of civic groups and environmental activists that the Rs. 14,540 crore project would result in axing of thousands of trees, he said that the number trees that would be axed or pruned is just 2,874.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, he took exception to some media reports questioning his ‘special interest’ in the project. The city’s civic agencies (BBMP and BDA) have requested the PWD to prepare a Detailed Project Report for the project, he said.
