February 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - BENGALURU:

Expressing concern over the threat calls received by D. Raja, MP and Central Secretariat member of Communist Party of India (CPI), and his daughter Aparaajita, AISF leader in Jawaharlal Nehru University, the party’s general secretary, S. Sudhakar Reddy, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and “stop this political vendetta”.

Addressing presspersons and releasing a letter written to Mr. Modi, Mr. Reddy said that the caller threatened Mr. Raja and Ms. Aaparajita of “shooting them down if they continued to fight ABVP and RSS”. Mr. Reddy said that; “If there is no security to an MP and a well-known senior CPI leader, who else can you provide security? How dare they threaten a leader of his stature?”

He also urged Mr. Modi to instruct the Delhi police to withdraw the “false case” against JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar.
