Constable post aspirants protest

June 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

While the city police force has been facing shortage of constabulary, it has now been blamed on the delay in recruitment process.

On Sunday, as hundreds of aspirants to 2,700 civil constable posts waited with anxiety for the results to be announced, the postponement led to protests.

Sources in CID (Recruitment and Training division) that conducted the exam, said though the list of successful candidates was ready, the city police had not collected the list to announce it. A senior CID official said, “We have informed the city police to collect it. However, they are not showing any interest nor have they replied to us despite several reminders.”

The candidates had been informed through SMS that the results would be announced on Sunday.

People from Chickballapur, Kolar, Doddaballapur, Raichur, Ballari, and Yadgir districts came to Bengaluru only to be disappointed. “They have told us that the new date would be announced soon,” said a candidate.

The written exam, which was attended by over 80,000 candidates, was conducted in January this year.
