The tahsildar of K.R. Puram division has filed a complaint against a real estate company for allegedly encroaching on to 24 guntas of government land adjacent to a real estate project at Whitefield.

Based on a complaint by tahsildar Ramalakshmaniah, Whitefield police have filed an FIR charging Prestige Estate Project Ltd. under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act and also under Section 447 (trespass) of the IPC.

Ramalakshmaniah, in his complaint, said that the management had taken over kharab land in survey no. 2/1D. The encroachment came to light when locals filed a complaint. Ramalakshmaniah visited the spot and brought the crime to the attention of his seniors before filing a police complaint.

The company has denied the allegation. "On our application, the government has denotified it as kharab. However, it's not allotted to us. When we were cleaning the surrounding, some locals complained that we were encroaching on the land. We clarify that we have not encroached on any kharab land as alleged," said Arvind Pai, Head, Legal, Prestige Group.
