Tuesday’s rain had a lasting impact on power supply in the city, with damages affecting electricity consumers well into Wednesday morning.
Residents in and around Hebbal Kempapura had to bear with no power supply from 5 p.m. on Tuesday until 10.30 a.m. the next day. Similarly, residents in and around Sanjaynagar said they had no power supply from 8 p.m. on Tuesday till 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning. As many as 17 cranes were engaged in reinstating uprooted poles on Tuesday night.
Between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., 15 electricity poles had fallen in northern Bengaluru, while four poles fell on the east side of the city. In addition to this, fallen trees had caused damages to electricity lines.
Among the major interruptions reported on Wednesday were from Kempapura, Chiranjeevi Layout, Yogeshnagar, Netajinagar, Vinayaknagar (Sahakarnagar MUSS), Vibhutipura, Ramesh Nagar and Doddanakundi (HAL MUSS), Kyalasanahalli, Hanumanthanagar and L.G. Layout (Banaswadi MUSS) and Vasanthnagar police quarters and surrounding areas (C Station MUSS). Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) officials said it was feeder faults that led to the situation.
Also, line clearances for maintenance work saw scheduled power cuts in certain areas up to six hours, including those fed by the Hoody 400 Kv station.
