CID raids houses of suspended cops in Hubballi

Shortly after Inspector General of Police (IGP) -rank officer Alok Kumar was suspended for his alleged links with single-digit lottery kingpin Pari Rajan, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday raided the houses of three police officials suspended for links with cricket betting in Hubballi.

A Kannada news channel had recently aired a sting operation showing Hanumantharaya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hubballi, allegedly asking for Rs. 2 lakh as bribe to provide protection for cricket betting bookies. Two constables were also implicated by the sting operation. DCP Hanumantharaya has been suspended after a recommendation from the DG & IGP Om Prakash, while the two constables were suspended by the Hubbali Dharward Commissioner.

The State government handed over the probe to Criminal Investigation Department soon after.

CID sleuths led by Dy. SP Kumaraswamy raided the houses of the three suspended cops on Saturday morning.
