Senior Congress leader and former Minister B.K. Chandrashekar said that advertisement firms and land developers had blatantly violated rules and installed hoardings in the city. He demanded that the BBMP remove all illegal hoardings immediately.
Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Chandrashekar said the "advertisement scandal" in the city had ruined its beauty. He demanded the removal of a large hoarding installed on Race Course Road by a private land developer.
Mr Chandrashekar claimed that former BJP corporator N.R. Ramesh had illegally built a gymnasium encroaching Rose Garden near Jayanagar and urged the BBMP to demolish the construction soon.
He condemned Mr. Ramesh’s threat against BBMP’s Joint Commissioner (Yelahanka zone) Sarfaraz Khan. Mr. Ramesh had threatened the latter with dire consequences if a report on road cutting and Optical Fibre Cables at Yelahanka was not prepared and submitted to him. A case has been registered in this regard.
Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) chairman Vaman Achayra failed to discharge his responsibilities and allowed the city’s lakes to get polluted, he alleged.
