Centre has not taken action against Reddy brothers as they belong to BJP, alleges Jayachandra

May 21, 2017 06:34 pm | Updated 06:34 pm IST - Tumakuru

Accusing the Union government of having a soft corner for ‘Reddy brothers,’ Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra said many cases of illegal mining against them have not be taken up as they belong to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Speaking to reporters in Tumakuru city on Sunday, Mr. Jayachandra said that though the Centre could have appealed against those involved in illegal mining, it hasn’t done so. What kind of message does it send to people when action is not taken against the accused in multiple illegal mining case, he asked.

Clarifying that the State government did not have any role in Janthakal mining case, he said neither the Chief Minister nor himself have interfered in the case.

BJP's fake love for dalits

Terming BJP state unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa having breakfast at a dalit's house in Tumakuru a farce, Mr. Jayachandra said BJP's artificial love for dalits and other oppressed classes has increased with the assembly elections in the State fast approaching.

The people understand these cheap gimmicks and if the BJP had real concern for the dalits they should make laws that help them, he added.

MLA Rafiq Ahmed, former MLA Shafi Ahmed and others were present.
