CCB raids café, 7 held

The Central Crime Branch raided a café on 1st Main, Chandra Layout, and arrested seven persons who were allegedly serving hookah to customers.

The police conducted the raid based on a tip off. They detained the staff and a few customers who were smoking hookah. Sources said the staff were allegedly selling hookah to minors.

The CCB booked a case under various sections of Indian Penal Code against the accused and have written to the BBMP to cancel the café’s license. Sources said that among the customers was a contestant of Kannada reality show who was reportedly let off with a warning.

In another case, the CCB arrested a man and seized ₹1.7 lakh in cash from him. The accused, Sudhakar, 38, was allegedly running a cricket betting racket for an IPL match in Hyderabad.
