The Tavarekere police have filed a case against actor ‘Duniya’ Vijay with the C.K. Achukattu police for obstructing them from discharging their duty and aiding the escape of an accused, identified as film producer P. Sundar Gowda.

According to sources, police had gone to Sundar Gowda’s house in Chennammana Kere Achukattu with a non-bailable warrant on Wednesday night. Vijay reportedly promised to bring Sundar to the police station on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, Sundar allegedly escaped from the back door.

Sundar is one of the four accused in a case registered with regard to the death of actors Anil and Raghav who had drowned in Tippagondanahalli lake in November 2016 during the shooting of the Kannada film Mastigudi .

When Sundar repeatedly failed to appear before the police for investigation, a non-bailable warrant was issued against him.

The police said both Vijay and Sundar are now absconding. A case has been registered under Sections 353 and 225 of the Indian Penal Code.
