Businessman arrested for birthday party on the road

The Jnana Bharathi Nagar police arrested a 38-year-old businessman for blocking a road to celebrate his birthday on Thursday.

According to the police, the accused, Girish, is a resident of Basaveshwara Nagar. He had put up a pandal and arranged a party for his friends in front of his ancestral house on 3rd cross at Mallathalli. Hundreds of people thronged the spot for a free meal and blocked the road much to the anger of motorists, pedestrians and residents.

Based on a complaint, a team led by Sub-Inspector Kantharaju L. rushed to the spot. Sensing trouble, the revellers fled from the spot. The police seized the pandal. They later tracked down Girish and arrested him under Section 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the IPC.
