Tension prevailed for some time when people staged a protest and stoned a few BMTC buses after a BMTC bus ran over a pedestrian at Singasandra on Hosur Road on Friday.

Shivaram Reddy (43), a farmer and resident of Kotanur Dinne, was standing near a bus-stand to cross the road when the bus knocked him down him around 1.30 p.m. The driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped.

Meanwhile, passersby protested against the reckless driving and damaged some BMTC buses.
