Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader B.S. Yeddyurappa will take over as the party’s State unit president on Thursday after garlanding the statue of B.R. Ambedkar.

According to a party press release, Mr. Yeddyurappa will garland Ambedkar’s statue on the Vidhana Soudha premises to mark his birth anniversary. Later, he would hoist the party flag at the BJP State headquarters at Malleswaram and then receive the party flag from the outgoing president, Pralhad Joshi, in a symbolic gesture to mark the formal assuming of the new responsibility. His first public event after taking charge will be the Ambedkar Jayanti celebration organised by the party. He will address a public meeting in the evening at the Palace Grounds. This is the fourth time that Mr. Yeddyurappa will be assuming the role of the party State president.
