A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met Governor Vajubhai Rudhabhai Vala to submit a petition against Congress MLA Muniratna Naidu.

The delegation, led by leader of opposition in the BBMP Council Padmanabha Reddy, accused Mr. Naidu of harassing councillors of the BJP from the R.R. Nagar ssembly constituency.

“The MLA’s supporters have even manhandled woman councillors. The MLA has waged a campaign against BJP councillors in the area, obstructing development works and lodging false complaints against them,” he alleged.

The petition requests the governor to direct the Lokayukta to speed up the probe against the MLA in two corruption cases. Mr. Reddy said that the governor promised to discuss the issue with the State government.

Mr. Naidu has been involved in a series of controversies with the councillors of the opposition BJP and JD(S) in his constituency. In the latest episode, a woman councillor tendered her resignation to the mayor in the council meeting while another from the JD(S) attempted suicide by drinking phenyl in the council alleging harassment by the MLA.
