Gowthami P, MES College, Malleswaram, Bengaluru – State topper in the Science stream

The atmosphere at her Hesaraghatta home was jubiliant as Gowthami P, a student of MES College, was the sole topper in the science stream with an astonishing 595 out of 600. She scored centum in Physics, Chemistry and Maths and aspires to be a doctor, hoping to land a seat in the prestigious Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute here.

Biology being her favourite subject, she says she is confident of having done well in the Common Entrance Test as well as the other entrance exams she has written.

Her father, P Shankrappa , is a supervisor in a private company and her mother Subhamati, a home maker.

“I am happy and speechless. I put in 100 per cent effort and hard work with the help of my teachers and parents,” she said.

Veena S Reddy, Jain College, Jayanagar, Bengaluru – Topper in the Commerce stream

Having scored centum in Accountancy, Basic Maths and Statistics and 99 in Business Studies, Veena S Reddy could not have missed the top rank in the Commerce stream. The aspiring law student spoke to The Hindu soon after seeing her results and said, “My teachers were very supportive and clarified all my doubts. I have got a seat at Christ University but I’m waiting for the results for the National Law Schools.”

Her proud father Jagannath Reddy, a Chartered Accountant, said, “We knew that she would do well but we didn’t expect her to end up as the topper. She used to study on a daily basis and had a plan chalked out.”

Veena’s mother Lakshmidevi is a homemaker while her older sister Thanu is pursuing CA like her father.

Hitankshi M Trivedi, Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru – Topper in the Arts stream

It was raining congratulations and handshakes for Hitankshi M Trivedi at Mount Carmel College on Monday afternoon as news spread that she had topped the Arts stream, securing 579 out of 600. She scored centum in Psychology and Economics and aspires to be an IAS officer.

“The result was a surprise. I had put in a lot of effort into my studies from the very beginning, and I’m happy that it turned fruitful. The result further boosts my confidence of becoming a sincere IAS officer,” she said.

Hitankhsi’s mother Nita is a homemaker, while her father Mayank Trivedi works in the garment industry.

As of now, she has enrolled for the BA course in Political Science, Economics and Sociology in Christ University.
