Bengaluru police ready to investigate Lokayukta corruption allegations

A day after Joint Commissioner of Police, Chandrashekar wrote to Lokayukta expressing the unwillingness to investigate the corruption allegations against the Lokayukta referred to him, Bengaluru Police Chief M.N. Reddi said that Bengaluru Police is ready to investigate the case.

Mr. Reddi said that Lokayukta has not informed him yet about handing over the case, but he has the power to refer the case, adding that the Police are ready to investigate the case and submit its report. Mr. Chandrasekhar who accompanied Mr. Reddi, consented.

Correction

Mr. M.N. Reddi has clarified that the Lokayukta case has been handed over to Mr. Chandrashekhar and not Central Crime Branch (CCB). He added, that the Lokayukta, under section 15C of the Lokayukta Act, has ordered the handing over the case. Mr. Reddi stated that Lokayukta has not consulted him on handing over the case to the Joint Commissioner.
