Bengaluru-Mysuru passenger train derails

The front wheel of the locomotive engine of the Bengaluru-Mysuru passenger train derailed near Nayandahalli on Mysuru road in the city around 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning. The train had just left Bengaluru city railway station for Mysuru. According to officials, there were no injuries or casualties.

"There is line doubling at the site of the incident and we expect no disruptions for now. The train has been removed and the line is restored," the Railways spokesperson for Bangalore division said.

Thousands of people use the passenger trains between the two cities for their daily commute to work.

The reason for the derailment is yet unknown and officials are investigating.
